Visit to Grey Coat Hospital School Library

The Library of the Grey Coat Hospital School is happy to host a visit of up to twelve members of the Cataloguing and Indexing Group, and others interested in cataloguing, to see highlights of their collection, which dates back to 1700 (although the oldest book was published in 1613) and includes current resources for a modern school. Lucy Saint-Smith will give us an overview of cataloguing practices for materials for students and also a recent project to document their special collections.

This is an opportunity to see behind the scenes in a working school in an historic setting, and may appeal especially to those with an interest in services to young people and / or special collections but also to those working in other sectors.

You can find out more about the Library here: www.gch.org.uk/Library and book a free ticket to attend here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cataloguing-and-indexing-group-visit-to-the-grey-coat-hospital-school-tickets-26017562229

If you have any queries, please contact CIG committee member Anne Welsh,a.welsh@ucl.ac.uk

N.B. Although the Library is wheelchair accessible, it will be helpful to know in advance if you have mobility issues so that Lucy can organise the rare books display in an accessible room (the rare books room is up a flight of stairs), and so that we can arrange to meet her at the correct (accessible) entrance.
